     The ‘FPS’ in StantonFPSHockey stands for Fundamentals, Principles, Skills. It also represents the approach we take. We begin with the fundamentals. These are the foundation of a hockey player. They are necessary to learn all other skills: shooting, passing, stick handling, speed, balance, scoring, defensive play - all these things will suffer without a solid foundation, but will be that much stronger with good fundamentals. We stress fundamentals in every part of the camp. 

 

    What truly separates us from other camps is the way we teach principles. We take the time to make sure that each individual knows why we do what we do. What good is blind repetition without an understanding of what the drill is meant to improve? Our camp does not perform drills just for the sake of it. We educate. We give all our participants the tools to improve themselves, which is invaluable. Our goal is to ensure that every player and goalie gains the ability to elevate their own game every time they touch the ice, workout, or practice skills at home. Unfocused practice builds habits. Focused practice builds GOOD habits. 

 

    Finally, we work on the skills of the game. We take care to remind each player of the fundamentals and principles we teach while practicing their skills to prevent the formation of bad habits and to promote good habits. Again, we do not simply aim for repetition in drills; we provide the individual attention needed to learn each skill. 

 

    When we put this all together in each day of camp, the result is a well-educated, self-sufficient, motivated hockey player. We teach our participants how to enjoy the process of practicing and training, on and off the ice, to encourage a love for the game. The benefits are invaluable in hockey, as well as in every part of life. 

 

    Every player and goalie in our camp will have fun, will learn so much about hockey, and will become a better player; guaranteed. We all have a passion for hockey, and for passing on everything we have been so fortunate to learn during our hockey careers.
